  John Vamos

John Vamos concluded sometime ago that well crafted questions were the key to closing the gap between an organisation's current performance and its full potential. "The quality of the question determines the quality of the thought that it provokes and, as a result, the quality of the solution to the challenges facing business," says John Vamos.

Over the past 15 years, the founder and Managing Director of Business Coaching Systems has crafted a suite of purpose designed and rigorously tested questions able to produce pure business solutions for clients, by clients.

These questions now sit at the heart of John's patented strategic Thinking Systems which has effectively removed the barrier to total success for a wide range of firms including icons such as Telstra, ANZ and KPMG.

"Unlike executive coaching, we do not borrow your business to train and improve your people," says John. "Instead we borrow your people to transform your business." This is one of the many strategies that have contributed to the effective change management practices our clients are currently engaged in. In short, John Vamos empowers businesses to generate and manage change by providing them with the skills to manage the minds of stakeholders and ensure that everyone is working towards a single achievable vision and set of goals.

Qualifications and Past Experience

Since 1993 John's company, Business Coaching Systems (BCS), has assisted more than 1,400 companies in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore to effectively assist clients in creating and managing change by drawing on their own performance potential.

With absolute faith in his methodology and more importantly, bottom line proof of its success, John recently established an Institute of Organisational Coaching. The Institute is now providing others with the skills to deliver his unique approach to strategic planning, organisational change management, operational planning, performance management and executive coaching.

At the same time, BCS is working with the University of Technology Sydney on groundbreaking research into business coaching which will provide qualitative and quantitative insights into the practice of coaching in organisations leading to much needed professional standards for the industry.

John says that professional coaches should be able to seamlessly and unobtrusively facilitate teams of managers and employees to the right conclusions for their business.

While his work with giant multinationals is recognised globally, he has long maintained a strong interest in SMEs - particularly family run business that deserve to reap the rewards of sometimes decades of hard work.

"Our thinking system can ensure that SME's enjoy the discipline and the benefits of a global company without sacrificing the character and the culture that makes an entrepreneurial family firm an appealing environment in which to succeed," John said.

In the forward to John's book "You Don't Think as Smart as you Are", Professor Stewart Clegg of Sydney's University of Technology said, "what it provides is a way of unlocking all the taken-for-granted and tacit knowledge, the constitutive grounds that we all already have but either don't recognise or know about, yet implicitly trade off in our business life". That's not bad coming from the only Australian listed in the Harvard Business Journals Top 200 influential Organisational Management gurus.

John is an active member of the International Coaching Federation and sits on the boards of companies in the financial services, management services and hospitality industries.

It takes a very large helping of courage and confidence to achieve as much as John has achieved in a few short years. Its courage and a confidence that he readily instills in client companies and is best summed up in an end of year assessment prepared by one of those clients.

"Our business is celebrating an extraordinarily successful year. Our Leadership Team recognises that their first priority is the group. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensure that responsibility for implementation is unmistakably clear. Our employees are motivated by the opportunity for success, not the fear of failure. They want to come to work tomorrow." The date on the report is 2012. With guidance from John the client company had a clear grasp on where it is going, how it is going to get there and of the rewards that lay at the end of the journey.
